What is the Touch the Color Game?
This game; It is an educational game mode that requires participants to react instantly and accurately to external voice commands by looking at the colored cardboards in front of them. When the "BLUE" command appears on the screen or on the table, players must press their hands on cards other than blue or avoid touching that color. It is a great warm-up activity for both individual and duo competitions.
Gains Provided by the Activity
Reflex and Response Speed: It activates the brain and hand coordination as soon as the command is given.
Impulse Control and Processing Skill: It suppresses the tendency of the brain to automatically go to the spoken color (similar to the Stroop effect) and ensures that it obeys the opposite rule.
Auditory and Visual Perception: It instantly matches the spoken word with the position of the colored cards in front of it.
Group Dynamics and Fun: Increases the sense of competition and joyful interaction among the participants.
Materials Required for the Activity
Colored Cardboards/Papers: Square-cut construction paper in 4 different colors (e.g. Blue, Pink, Yellow, Orange).
A Flat Table: A surface high enough for two players to stand side by side comfortably.
Command Giver (Referee): A leader/teacher who will say or show the color names in a random order.
How is the Activity Implemented? (Step by Step)
Field Preparation: An equal number of colored papers of the same colors (eg: 4) are placed on the table in front of both players.
Determination of the Rules: The game leader explains the rule: "You will definitely not touch the color I say, the one who touches one of the other colors the fastest gets the point" or "You must touch all the colors except the said color in turn."
Command and Competition: The leader announces aloud. says color (Ex: "Blue!"). Participants have to place their hands on a color other than blue within seconds.
Scoring: The one who touches the spoken color by mistake or is the slowest is eliminated or the other party gains points.
Activity Diversification and Variations
Reverse Command Mode: When "Blue" is said, do not touch only blue, "Don't Touch Blue!" When called, the rule can be complicated by touching colors other than blue.
Foreign Language Practice: It can be used as a fun reinforcer in language learning by playing with English color names (Blue, Yellow, Pink, etc.).
Time Trial Command: The referee quickly counts the colors without stopping (Blue! Pink! Yellow!), the players change their hands keeping up with the rhythm.
